TNS Teaching This Week

This week and next The NewStandard will be on a reduced publishing schedule starting tomorrow (Tuesday) because fellow TNS co-founder Brian Dominick and I are going to Woods Hole, Massachusetts to teach at the Z Media Institute (evidently we are listed as "and more"). We are excited to share our experiences starting an independent news publication as well as pass on some of the nuts and bolts of news writing and editing.

All told, we are collectively teaching six workshops, three times each. In addition to instruction in news writing, editing and publishing, we will be giving courses on creating effective outreach tools for activists and internet skills. Brian, who attended the institute in 1994 and has taught there twice since, will also be teaching his two-part youth liberation course.

So for the nine days we’re there, we expect our news publishing capacity to be somewhat reduced. We thank you all in advance for bearing with us over the next several days as we juggle news editing with a rigorous teaching schedule.

AHH! I'm terribly jealous. See if you can get some recruits for outreach, writing, anything. ZMI '03, Marcus
