Kari Lydersen, a Core Contributor to The NewStandard, is a journalist based in Chicago writing for The Chicago Reader, In These Times, Punk Planet, Clamor Magazine, LiP Magazine and other publications. She is also an instructor for the Urban Youth International Journalism Program, working with youth in public housing and other marginalized communities. She has a book out on Common Courage Press called Out of the Sea and Into the Fire: Latin American-US Immigration in the Global Age.
