Mar. 21, 2005 – Scores of social justice groups, veterans’ organizations and military families staged antiwar marches and other protests over the weekend to mark the second anniversary of the US-led invasion of Iraq.
Events took place in nearly 600 US towns and in cities across the world. In New York, one march wound its way from outside the United Nations’ headquarters to Times Square, while another went through Harlem on its way to Central Park. One of the biggest weekend marches was held in London, where about 45,000 people walked passed the US Embassy, from Hyde Park to Trafalgar Square.
