Home Depot settles race, gender discrimination suit for $5.5M
by C.P. Pandya
Aug. 26, 2004 –
Retail giant Home Depot said it will pay out $5.5 million to settle race and gender discrimination claims brought by some of its workers at stores in Colorado, without denying or admitting any wrongdoing. The company said it settled in order to avoid additional litigation costs. Neither the company nor the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which represented the Home Depot workers, would say how many people are covered under the settlement.
