World News Bolivians win faster re-nationalization of gas, oil

Pressure from protesters in the Bolivian town of Camiri forced the government of Evo Morales to accelerate the re-nationalization of the country's energy resources, but at a cost of 12 activists wounded in assaults by security forces. After 7 days of a strike that blocked traffic at the Argentine border and involved clashes over control of an oil pipeline, a government commission Monday morning agreed to establish greater state ownership of Bolivian natural gas and oil assets, which are currently exploited by multinational corporations.

Remarks: This is one of the worst-written news articles I’ve ever read, but unfortunately I’ve found no others on the subject, and it appears to be a very significant story. It took a while to figure it out, and I still can’t relay anything in detail. Maybe English isn’t the writer’s first language? –BD
