World News Time running out for Cambodia genocide trials

Judges for the coming UN-Cambodian Khmer Rouge genocide trials have warned that time is running out to resolve disputes and begin. The tribunal for leaders of Pol Pot's regime, which killed up to 2 million people, were due to begin this summer. But over 7 months after being sworn in, the 29 judges cannot agree on such key rules as independence of judges and the role of foreign defense counsel. Cambodia denies interfering, but its government – which includes former Khmer Rouge members – has broken off UN court talks more than once.
