U.S. News House official: Pelosi didn't ask for plane, I did

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not request a larger plane for personal reasons, House sergeant at arms Bill Livingood said Thursday. He said the request was his, and he made it for security reasons, because Pelosi's California residency requires an aircraft capable of non-stop flights. A Washington Times article last week, headlined "Pelosi's Power Trip,” cited unnamed sources claiming Pelosi asked for a military plane large enough for relatives and other members of her California delegation – leading to much criticism from GOP House members.

Remarks: In case you thought this would end the media circus on this matter, as of Friday, major papers were still running AP dispatches under headlines like “House GOP blasts Pelosi for plane request.”
