World News Fast-food giants accused of underpaying Chinese workers

A Guangzhou, China newspaper's undercover investigation has found McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Pizza Hut underpay part-time workers by up to 40% and work them more than 10 hours a day, violating Chinese labor law. McDonald's pays part-time workers only 4 yuan (52 cents) per hour, KFC 4.7 yuan and Pizza Hut 5 yuan, despite a minimum wage of 7.5 yuan. Reporters also found the employers refused to sign labor contracts or insure part-time workers against workplace injuries. Nearly 3,000 Chinese McDonald's and KFCs employ 200,000 people.
